An impressive 3D timepiece that shows the time and movement of celestial bodies.

In a more dazzling version of the extravagant original, the Jacob and Company Astronomy Sky is an exotic, three-dimensional display using time and astronomical indications as a huge watch.

Although the American jeweler is known for its gem-studded multi-time zone watches with little technical interest, Astronomia Sky is a mechanically fascinating timepiece created by Ateliers7h38, a complication expert founded by Luca Soprana and Christophe Naudin. Almost everything visible in front of Astronomia Sky is moving, with speeds ranging from one circle per minute to one circle per year.

The bright blue titanium dial at the bottom of the dial rotates once a year, roughly representing sidereal time, or the time it takes for the earth to revolve around the sun.

Above the blue dial is an oval with gilded edges, which runs through the constellations and stars, showing the visible part of the sky in the northern hemisphere at that time. The edge of the blue dial is the month indicator of the perpetual calendar.

The globe in the center is painted titanium, which can be used as a day and night indicator. Four arms extend from the central axis, and each arm carries a different part of the mechanism; the central axis rotates around the dial every 20 minutes, and the entire mechanism moves with it.

The hours and minutes are located on a sub-dial mounted on the third arm, which also contains a differential system. This ensures that the sub-dial is always aligned vertically with respect to the watch surface, even if the central axis rotates it for 20 minutes.

The opposite of the time display is the three-axis tourbillon, which has two frames that rotate at 60 seconds and 5 minutes respectively; the last axis is the 20-minute rotation of the central axis.

The other arm has an "orbital second hand", which is essentially a satellite-like wheel-shaped second hand. A 1-carat orange sapphire is attached to the other end of this arm, which also rotates once per second.

The size of the display means that this watch is huge, 47 mm in diameter and 25 mm thick, but with a panoramic view of the movement. Since the rose gold case is more like a frame with a large sapphire window installed on it, the movement can be seen from all sides.

There is a pair of pull-out labels on the back to control the windings and settings separately. In full wind, the watch will run for 60 hours.
